The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools Board of Directors, in partnership with Specialty Foods Group, is pleased to announce an exciting and unique opportunity for educational enhancements for Daviess County Public Schools students and the Owensboro community.
Through the Foundation for DCPS, Specialty Food Groups has partnered to renovate a bus donated by the Daviess County Public Schools and designed to offer students and the community an ‘educational center on wheels’. This project, entitled Exploration Station, will be used to support numerous school and community activities along with being a dynamic resource for students seeking to continue the education cycle beyond the school year.
“We are proud to be a title sponsor of this project as it will serve as a vital platform in the drive for educational excellence. As a long standing member of the Daviess County community, we are proud to engage with and enrich our neighbors’ lives through these types of endeavors,” said Ric Herrera, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Specialty Foods Group.
A concept drawing will be available for public viewing at the Foundation for DCPS booth #262 at the Home & Garden Show (Owensboro Convention Center) March 4-6 and at DCPS Central Office (1622 Southeastern Parkway) from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. March 7 and 8.
Said Superintendent Owens Saylor about the opportunity, “The Exploration Station bus perfectly illustrates that the Foundation for DCPS and our community partners are willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to reach kids with quality education resources.”
Official unveiling of the Exploration Station is scheduled for May 20, 2016, during Friday-After-Five, at the Owensboro Convention Center (501 West Second Street, Owensboro, Kentucky).
“Exploration Station and its future impact on DCPS students is one of the most exciting projects we have had the privilege of constructing,” said Vicki Quisenberry, Executive Director of the Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools. “The generosity of SFG and their desire to enhance educational opportunities for students are to be commended. This ambitious project shows impressive creativity that will significantly impact student learning. Exploration Station demonstrates what can be done when our community businesses have a passion for enhancing a love of education in our children and, together, we can continue to promote a community penchant for private support of public education.”
Businesses and individuals who would like to invest in enhancing educational opportunities for DCPS students through Exploration Station sponsorships may contact Vicki Quisenberry at the Foundation for DCPS (vickiq@foundationfordcps.org or 270.231.5583).
